TPE moulded parts according to drawing

As a specialist in customised TPE moulded parts, we can find the right material and production solution for your application thanks to our in-house toolmaking and high level of vertical integration.

Technical TPE moulded parts for the industry

TPE moulded parts combine the advantages of rubber with the easy processability of plastic. They are flexible, can be recycled several times, are therefore particularly sustainable and can be processed economically by injection moulding. Our customers use TPE moulded parts in technical applications in which Rubber-plastic connections or Rubber metal connections would be too hard and Molded Rubber are too heavy or too complex to manufacture. Molded Silicone are often the more expensive alternative in such cases and are usually chosen when the focus is on high temperature or special hygiene requirements.

Properties TPE moulded parts

Like plastic, TPE can be processed efficiently by injection moulding and at the same time offers the flexibility and elasticity of classic rubber materials. TPEs show their strengths in series production: short cycle times, low-burr and reproducible quality as well as cost-effectiveness in large quantities ensure high efficiency.

TPE moulded parts according to individual drawing

As a manufacturer of TPE moulded parts, we produce our components using in-house tools based on your drawings and tolerances. This enables the ISO 9001-certified production of flexible geometries with high precision and repeat accuracy.

01

Set design

Based on your drawing, we check the geometry, requirements and operating conditions of the component. This allows us to define the right choice of material and the most economically viable production solution for your TPE moulded part.

03

Injection Molding

The TPE is processed in granulate form, melted in the screw and then injected into the cooled injection mould. The cooling causes the component to harden quickly, which enables short cycle times and efficient series production.

02

Tool design

We then start with the mould construction. The injection moulding tool is manufactured exactly according to your specific requirements so that individual geometries can also be implemented precisely.

04

Post Processing

After injection moulding, the TPE moulded parts are automatically demoulded. As they are generally virtually burr-free and usually require no post-processing, production is particularly cost-effective - especially for large quantities.

Do you have questions about TPE moulded parts?
We have answers!

TPEs (thermoplastic elastomers, more rarely also thermoplastic rubber) are plastics that are similarly flexible and rubber-elastic to classic elastomers (EPDM, NBR, silicone). However, TPEs do not cross-link through heat, but - like plastics - become liquid when exposed to heat and solidify when cooled. TPE rubber can therefore be processed in the same way as plastic by injection moulding or extrusion with low burr.

TPE moulded parts combine elasticity with simple thermoplastic processing. Like thermoplastics, they are recyclable and are processed by injection moulding. In contrast to rubber, TPEs do not require vulcanisation, which leads to shorter production cycles. Furthermore, there is often no need for costly post-processing such as tempering or deburring. Although the raw material costs for TPE compounds and the injection moulds are higher, the uncomplicated and efficient processing ensures high cost-effectiveness, especially for large quantities. TPEs are less suitable for small quantities, as the higher mould costs do not outweigh the benefits of more economical production. We will be happy to help you select the right rubber or TPE material for your application.

TPEs are available in a wide range of hardnesses, from very soft and flexible to hard and robust. At GUME, we generally process TPEs in a hardness range between 25 and 85 Shore A.

Yes, TPEs are thermoplastic and can be melted down and then reprocessed. Even after several recycling cycles, TPE retains its material properties as long as it is not contaminated in the process. TPE moulded parts are therefore more environmentally friendly than other elastomer moulded parts, which can only be thermally recycled.

TPE moulded parts can be produced from very soft with 25 Shore A to hard with 85 Shore A. The TPE material also manages without carbon black fillers, is easy to colour and is available in transparent versions. Depending on the TPE material, temperature ranges from -40 to 130 °C are possible and resistance to water, ageing, weathering, oil and lubricants can be adjusted. TPE moulded parts manufacturers can select specific materials to meet FDA requirements for medical and food technology as well as UL94 fire protection approval. Tell us about your application - we will be happy to advise you on material certificates and suggest a suitable material for your application.
