Available materials for silicone moulded parts

We process a wide range of silicone rubber in order to offer the right solution for every application:

We will find the right material for your requirements and your silicone moulded part.

Properties Molded Silicone

Our silicone moulded parts are manufactured according to your drawing in flexible batch sizes and adapted precisely to your requirements in terms of silicone properties and functional geometry. Silicone rubber remains elastic over a wide temperature range, is resistant to UV radiation, ozone and many chemicals and fulfils the highest hygiene requirements.

Molded Silicone made to measure

As a silicone moulded parts manufacturer, we use our in-house tool shop to produce customised moulds based on a component drawing. Flexible geometries up to a maximum size of 650 x 750 mm are therefore possible in quantities of 1 to 10 million. If the component geometry is unclear, we provide support as a development partner and adapt sample moulds through rapid iterations until the final geometry is found. We always pay attention to a production-optimised design in order to minimise burr formation, air inclusions and component distortion while keeping costs low.

01

Set design

If the final contour of your silicone moulded parts is not yet clearly defined at the beginning, we provide practical support during the development process and optimise the tool step by step together with your team until all functional and production-related requirements for your silicone moulded part have been reliably met.

03

Prototypes & series production

Once the design has been completed and the mould finished, we transfer your silicone moulded part to the prototype phase and then to series production. Thanks to our in-house mould construction, we are able to go into series production with express processing in individual cases after just 4 weeks. On request, we can also provide the necessary evidence and material certificates, such as UL94 or FDA conformity.

02

Tool design

When designing tools, we pay attention to a production-orientated design in order to reduce burrs, air inclusions and distortion as much as possible right from the start. Thanks to the close integration of toolmaking and production, short coordination paths and ongoing process optimisation, we often implement cost-effective production solutions more efficiently and quickly than many other suppliers.

04

Post Processing

Depending on requirements, production is followed by deburring, possible surface post-treatment and other quality assurance processes. For medical technology or safety-relevant silicone moulded parts, we can also ensure complete traceability including 100-% tests for function and appearance.

Processing options from silicone

Silicone moulded parts manufacturers differentiate between silicone rubber (e.g. VMQ, FVMQ) and the processing types RTV, HTV and LSR. The material describes the polymer base, which characterises properties such as temperature resistance, elasticity and ageing stability. However, the processing method also has an influence on the properties.

LSR silicone

(Liquid Silicone Rubber) is a two-component liquid silicone that is processed by injection moulding. Due to its residue-free reaction and low-burr, precise processing, LSR silicone is primarily used when high-purity silicone moulded parts are required. Due to the higher tool costs in injection moulding and the comparatively high material batch size, LSR silicone is particularly relevant for medium and large series.

HTV silicone

(High Temperature Vulcanizing) is a solid silicone that is formed into a component at higher temperatures using compression moulding, transfer moulding or injection moulding.

RTV silicone

(Room Temperature Vulcanising) cross-links at room temperature and is not or only rarely used for industrial moulded parts due to its low reproducibility and poorer mechanical properties.

Do you have questions about silicone moulded parts?
We have answers!

Silicone parts are resistant to cold, heat, ageing and weathering. They retain their elasticity even at extreme temperatures and fulfil high hygiene and cleanliness requirements. Silicone is halogen-free, flame-retardant, biocompatible and highly resistant to material fatigue. Silicone is therefore particularly suitable when materials are used at low temperatures and do not need to be particularly resistant to chemicals. Other types of rubber are often better suited for contact with oil, fuels, acids and alkalis. In addition, rubber components are usually the cheaper option.

In addition to the typical silicone properties, fluorosilicone offers high resistance to oils, fuels and aggressive chemicals. However, FMVQ is more expensive than VMQ and has poorer mechanical properties in terms of tear resistance, elongation at break and elasticity.

If the geometry of the component has not yet been finally defined, we can support you in creating a production-optimised design and help you select the right material. As soon as the final 3D data, the silicone material and the quantities have been defined, we start working out the most economical mould concept and prepare a quotation. For more complex projects and large quantities, initial sample parts can also be produced beforehand using a sample mould, which can then be approved before the series mould is produced. If required, we can assemble silicone moulded parts with other components directly on site to form an assembly.

We assign each raw material batch its own ID, which is linked to exactly one production order. For larger volumes, we generate several production orders for the same order. Each transport unit can therefore be clearly assigned to a production order and a batch and also fulfils strict specifications from medical technology and safety-critical industries.

With our own toolmaking department, we manufacture our own tools and can often deliver initial sample parts for standard silicones within two weeks. If component changes are necessary, we iterate quickly, implement changes to the mould and deliver new sample parts. If everything goes according to plan, we start with the first series parts after 4 weeks.

Medical silicone moulded parts are certified as biocompatible and chemically resistant. In addition, medical silicone moulded parts also withstand frequent sterilisation processes. Production takes place under controlled conditions with documented processes and traceable material batches. In the design, attention is paid to smooth, round, non-adhesive surfaces that reduce the risk of contamination.

During cryogenic deburring, we use liquid nitrogen to cool the silicone moulded parts down to -150 °C. The cold causes the silicone moulded parts to become brittle. The remaining fine burrs are removed by barrel finishing with the addition of plastic granulate.

Manual deburring is used when areas are difficult to access or special precision is required. Experienced employees remove burrs using tools such as knives or scissors.

For silicone moulded parts that must not contain any migratable particles, such as medical silicone moulded parts or silicone moulded parts in food technology, tempering is also used. This involves heating the silicone moulded parts in a controlled manner in order to reduce stresses, release residual substances and increase resistance. We select the right post-processing method for your requirements in order to achieve the most economical result.

Silicone moulded parts can be manufactured in such a way that virtually no particles migrate from the silicone moulded part. Silicone moulded parts in the food industry therefore have FDA food approvals. The silicone parts we produce for the food industry are therefore always food-safe and can be used in food production machines without hesitation.
